Meeting with the President of Competition Council, Bogdan Chiritoiu

CCIpR organized a meeting at the Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania headquarters with the President of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chiritoiu; George Anglitoiu, Head of the CEISD Technical Commission (Economic Commission for Foreign Direct Investments); and Ovidiu Malureanu, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss foreign direct investments in Romania.

The roundtable, moderated by our President Roberto Musneci, included representatives from Italian investors in Romania such as Pirelli, Alive Capital, UniCredit Bank Romania, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania, GRUPPO BELTRAME, and Walter Tosto WTB.

Together with public institutions, we analyzed the main legislative changes and their impact, aiming to ensure that the business environment is not negatively affected in the near future. We discussed the proposed changes openly and transparently, identifying ways to contribute to a more stable business climate.

During the debate, we examined the new regulations for the approval of foreign investments in Romania (both European and non-European), in light of new geopolitical challenges in terms of national security and competition.

We also highlighted several areas that require regulatory clarifications regarding incremental investments by companies already present in the country and the development investments of these companies.

At the end of the meeting, the commission requested the production of a document with proposals from the CCIpR, which will be considered in the development of the implementation rules.

We thank our Italian Embassy in Bucharest and Dr. Alice Rubini, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy, for participating in this important meeting.

Our Chamber of Commerce remains committed to continuing this essential dialogue in close collaboration between Italian businesses and government authorities.
